Bible Reading:  Mark 8:31-38

Memory verse:   And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony, and they did not love their lives to the death. Revelation 12:11(NKJV)

A Christian Martyr is one who suffers persecution and death for refusing to renounce his faith in Jesus Christ.

Would you like to suffer persecution and die for your faith in Christ Jesus? Some martyrs of Christ include:

  1. Stephen: A Deacon of the early Church. Acts 6:1-7.

He was falsely accused and later stoned to death. He died praying for the forgiveness of those who stoned him. Acts 7:59-60.

  • Andrew: A disciple of Jesus.

He was crucified on an X shaped cross on the northern coast of Peloponnese. He refused to be crucified in the same manner with Christ but rather was crucified on a X-shaped cross.

  • Simon Peter: A disciple of Christ.

He was martyred under Nero’s reign; killed in Rome. He was crucified upside down at his own request. He saw himself unworthy to be crucified in the same way like Jesus.

Key Point: Make up your mind to die for a righteous course.

Prayer points:

  1. I receive grace to absolutely yield myself to God in season and out of season, in Jesus name.
  2. My Father, strengthen and empower all the missionaries to finish their course, in the name of Jesus.
