Bible Reading: Luke 2: 1-20

MemoryVerse: For unto us a Child is born, Unto us a Son is given; And the government will be upon His shoulder. And His name will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. Isaiah 9:6 (NKJV)

Is Christmas a day of jubilation or a day of sober reflection? The answer is dependent on your paradigm. For me, I think it’s both. While I thank God for His gift of extravagant love, on the other hand, I ask myself if I have fully discovered and served the purpose of such great love in my life. Let’s think balance. Please don’t be carried away with the aura and funfair that accompany this day, else you miss its purpose. Many are celebrating a king they don’t know and don’t have a personal relationship with. How well have you represented His mission on earth ever since you claimed you know Him? Should He come today, are you sure you will be raptured with Him to glory. Where were you last night, brother and sister?

Who is sponsoring the agenda of your life? Who is the brain behind your motivations? How many instructions has this same Jesus given you through His Spirit and you blatantly ignored? You care for His hands (what He can offer you) but not His face (what you can offer His kingdom on earth). Friend, do a quick comparison and weigh it on the balance of your heart. Measure what He has offered you compared to what you have given Him. In the last one month, how many souls have you won, discipled and established to His glory? Oh, you were busy running your own agenda under the disguise of “I’m busy”, “office demands”, “school work” etc. I see a jealous King laden with burden saying, “Many have not been faithful to Me.”

Let’s come out of self-delusion, brethren. Many of us are only willing “to use” Jesus to satisfy our own needs here on earth. We keep chasing tirelessly material possessions that should come to us effortlessly should we pursue His purpose first. We revel in self-deceit saying, “God understands”. Really? Today, God wants you to understand His plans and purpose for your life. Prophet Isaiah, the Messianic prophet said, “Unto us a child is born and unto us a son is given….” Now that you have been born to this earth, what must you be “given to”? Take some few minutes in deep meditation and consider these things.

IN THE COMING YEAR, I WANT TO ENCOURAGE YOU TO PARTNER WITH CHRIST IN CASH AND IN KIND ON A MONTHLY BASIS FOR THE PROPAGATION OF THE GOSPEL THROUGH THIS DEVOTIONAL.
