Bible Reading: Proverbs 3: 3-5, Hebrews 13:3

Memory Verse: So be careful how you live. Don’t live like fools, but like those who are wise. Ephesians 5:15 (NLT)
Common mistakes singles make include:

  1. Leaving God out of the equation of marriage: Recently, there is a very wrong teaching going on saying, “God no longer chooses a life partner for people”. This is a great delusion. God is the author of marriage. If God chose Eve for Adam while he was in a deep sleep, then He can still choose for you. Trust not in your own understanding (Prov. 3: 3-5).
  2. When you are crazy about marriage above God’s purpose for your life: Dear single, get your priorities right. Discover purpose (the reason why God created you) before you pursue marriage.
  3. Choosing a partner for wrong reasons. Parametals such as money, handsomeness, beauty, body shape, posture, show off, societal status, lust, fear of being alone, vision from a prophet(ess) without a conviction in your spirit, thinking you two have been around together for too long, to make others think you’re also now an adult, accidental pregnancy, “Oh, it is too late to back out now”, etc, should never ever be a criteria for choosing a marriage partner.
  4. Thinking that the best way to make a person marry you is by becoming pregnant for him.
  5. Pecking, necking, fondling and kissing when you are not yet married: What God has not yet permitted you to eat, don’t play around it. Wait for the right time. Remember Eve, the serpent and the apple in the garden of Eden.
  6. Co-habiting: Staying together as married couples before ever getting married. Don’t do trial marriage. It cheapens you. It is a sin before God.
  7. Engaging in microwave relationship: Courtship shouldn’t be forever, however, take time to know a little about each other, harmonize your life goals, and ask pertinent questions before going to the altar.
  8. Neglecting your career and personal goals because of marriage: Due to the challenges of this modern times, all hands must be on deck in order to have a sweet home.
  9. Marrying because of material gain and connections.
  10. Receiving gifts from a man or woman you haven’t known too well.
  11. Following someone to a place you don’t know.
  12. Not taking your spiritual life seriously: Your spirit is the breath of God in you. Feed it well. Your inner man must not be lean but robust.
  13. Holding unto the past: Let go of all past mistakes, past failures, past failed relationships, past rejection, etc. Yesterday is gone.
Quote: It is better to remain single than to marry one’s enemy.
Prophetic Decree: Powers fighting God’s divine original shall be wasted, in Jesus name.
    Prayer Focus
  14. Originator of marriage, hallow be thy name in all the earth.
  15. I break the yoke of perennial singlehood in my family, in Jesus name.
  16. I refuse to fall into any satanic trap in my waiting period, in Jesus name.
  17. Holy Ghost, connect me to my divine partner by fire, in Jesus name.
  18. Anti-marital altars of my parents’ house, catch fire, in Jesus name.
