Bible Reading: Isaiah 41:10, Daniel 3: 16-18

Memory Verse:  “Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.” Joshua 1:9 (NIV)

There is one thing that have stopped men with noble dreams. There is one thing that have handicapped men of glorious visions. There is one thing that have stopped men and women from climbing another rung on the ladder of life. That thing is fear. Fear cripples. Fear has stolen and paralysed many destinies. Fear has turned the light of many men into darkness. Fear has hindered the great from being greater. Fear is acronym: False Expectations Appearing Real or False Evidence Appearing Real.

Fear is an unpleasant emotion caused by the threat of danger, pain, or harm. Did you read that? Many times, fear starts with an awkward feeling. A feeling of threat, danger, pain or harm borne out of our present or past circumstances. Your failure to overcome such feelings at the nick of time by the empowerment of the Holy Spirit will cause the spirit of fear to construct a stronghold of fear in your heart. Then, only deliverance can cast down such stronghold (2 Cor.10: 4-5).

The best way to conquer fear is to look at your fears in the face by the power of the Holy Spirit. Confront your fears with courage. Be courageous. Courage is the antidote for fear. When Joshua saw the big leadership shoe Moses had left for him, he became afraid. God had to repeatedly tell him to be strong and courageous (Joshua 1:6,7,9,18). Those who are not courageous fizzle out from the great and mighty door God has opened for them.

Without the spirit of courage, you cannot conquer your fears. Without the spirit of courage, you will not subdue your career and marital problems. Friends, your lack of courage may actually be responsible for your crippled finances. Hardly is there anyone who started a business, ministry, learnt a skill, completed a course, or does anything worthy of praise who had all the needed resources when they started. With the Spirit of courage, such as was on Shedrach, Meshach and Abednego, you can confront your ‘Nebuchadnezzar’ saying, “I shall not bow down to you or to your gods under any circumstance, even if God decides not to come to my deliverance.” (Daniel 3:16-18).

Quote: Forget Everything And Run or Face Everything And Rise.
