DWOJ Daily Words of Jesus Devotional Post September

22nd September, 2016.

Scripture Reading: Luke 9:23-26.

Memory verse for the week:    Lev. 6:13

‘And the fire on the altar shall be kept burning on it; it shall not be put out. And the priest shall burn wood on it every morning, and lay the burnt offering in order on it; and he shall burn on it the fat of the peace offerings.’ (NKJV)

Have you ever wondered what makes the Christianity of the 1970s’ quite different from that of our days? Haven’t you heard about the mighty move of the spirit so great among the saints of old. Our generation is filled with “ice cream Christians” always looking for what Jesus has got to offer them, but not willing to go out of their comfort zone for their master.

Luke 9:23 says, “ And he said to them all, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me”. To follow Jesus comes with a price tag. It is a call to self denial. You will no longer have things done in your own way if truly Christ is your Lord. Our new home has got its own code of conducts. It’s a life of self restraint. You’ve just got to be disciplined!

When last did you set out time to pray seriously at night, denying your sleepy eyes? Do you read, study & meditate upon the word of God compulsorily? There should be at least one day of the week when you fast. What about personal evangelism? Do you still go to those ungodly parties & night clubs when you’re meant to be at the altar of intercession for the lost and perishing?

Count the cost!

ACTION WORD: CRUCIFY YOURSELF DAILY.

PRAYER POINT:

  1. The death of Christ for me on the cross shall not be in vain in the name of Jesus.
  2. Holy Spirit, crucify me daily in all I do in the name of Jesus.
