Bible Reading: Psalm 143: 7-8, Philippians 4: 6-7

Memory VerseCasting all your care upon Him, for He cares for you. 1 Peter 5:7 (NKJV)

It seems as if as the earth rotate along its axis Satan keeps devising new methods, and modernizing old tricks. The rate at which people are falling into depression is alarming. Clinical depression is a state of  mental health disorder characterised by persistently depressed mood or loss of interest in activities, causing significant impairment in daily life. According to estimates from the World Health Organization (WHO) , about 280 million people worldwide have depression, including 5 percent of the world’s adults and 5.7 percent of adults above the age of 60.

Approximately 280 million people have depression. Women are more likely to be depressed than men. Nearly 50% of those diagnosed with depression are also diagnosed with an anxiety disorder. Depression is the leading cause of disability in the United States among people between the ages of 15 and 44. To make matters worse is the rate at which teenagers and youth also fall into this ditch. The video of a young adult circulated on the internet who decided to end his life by jumping into a lagoon.

There was also a video of a woman who decided to kill herself when she slipped into the sin of adultery. A teenager said she mixed sniper with some other concoctions when she felt depressed because “her mates had gained university admission while she was still at home”. The depression of many people are well written all over their face. Brethren, where is your faith?
