Bible Reading: Hebrews 12:2

Memory Verse:  Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set before Him endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. Hebrews 12:2 (BSB)

A distraction is something that turns your attention away from what you want to concentrate on. Total concentration is required with no distractions. A distraction is a disturbance, interference, diversion, and interruption.

Have you noticed that once you get on your social media account perhaps to check for just one thing, before you know it, one minute has turned to 10 minutes? No thanks to the various reels and too many tempting and captivating audio-visual compelling posts and pictures. This is a subtle but effective means by which the devil is stealing our time, vision, and dreams.

Perhaps you are having a burden to pray and mistakenly, you responded to a notification on your phone. Don’t be surprised that the prayer burden within you would have doused by half by the time ‘you recover yourself’. The devil is becoming more sophisticated, more creepy, more satanically intelligent, and mesmerizingly subtle in this age! Same subtle serpent in the garden of Eden, but more innovative and adaptive to current trends of the Gen Z age.

It was God’s servant Apostle Arome Osayi, who said, “When the devil sees that he cannot deceive you, he will distract you“. Those that are deceived are lost, those that are distracted have lost focus. That’s the devil for you!

Friends, shall we evaluate our lives? What is distracting your attention from your full focus on Jesus, the author and finisher of your faith? Even the very elect is being deceived. How can a former campus fellowship president marry a gay? Work, especially in the developed world, has distracted many away their ultimate purpose. Friends, where is your first love?

Furthermore, be careful of the so-called good things God has graciously given you. Your marriage, your children, your job, and even your ministry can become a distraction. Anything that is affecting your perfect focus on Jesus as your first and best is a distraction.

Anything affecting your intimacy with Jesus has become a distraction. Love your family but don’t lose Jesus. Work, but never let your work consume your heart away from Jesus. Nothing in this world can truly replace intimacy with Jesus.

Quote: When your focus is affected, your mind has been distracted. Watch it!

Prophetic Decree: Receive power to live above distraction, in Jesus name.

Prayer Focus

1. Lord, I repent of my declining spiritual state and intimacy with You.

2. Holy Spirit, revive my passion for You and You alone in the Holy of holies of my heart, in Jesus name.

3. I receive grace to discipline my interaction with gadgets such as phones, laptop, in Jesus name.

4. O Lord, separate me from any evil friend assigned from the pit of hell assigned to deceive and distract me, in Jesus name.

5. The blessings of my marriage, children, work, and other God’s goodness shall not turn to curses, in Jesus name.
