EFFECTS OF TEENAGE PREGNANCY (2)

Scripture Reading:                    Luke 14:28-32.

Memory verse for the week:   Job 14:7

“For there is hope for a tree, If it is cut down, that it will sprout again, And that its tender shoots will not cease.”(NKJV)

  1. Low self esteem: A teen mother may begin to see herself as inferior if not properly helped.
  • Unemployment: Young motherhood in an industrialized country can affect employment and social class.
  • Family Ostracization/ rejection: some parents could disown such a child for bringing shame and ridicule to them.
  • Abortion: In an attempt to avoid the attendant ridicule, such a teenager could attempt abortion which atimes leads to death or damage of the womb.
  • Financial burden: The coming of the young one will surely lead to extra financial expenses. This becomes worsened if her lover boy and his relations denies her.
  • The development of the child: Children born of teen mothers are likely to be born prematurely with a low birth weight, higher risk of intellectual, language & socio-emotional delays. Development disabilities and behavioural issues are increased in the children of teen mothers.
  • Promotes child trafficking: Teen mothers or their parents could decide to sell such babies or throw them the dust bin or pit latrine when they are born.

ACTION WORD:        LOOK BEFORE YOU LEAP.               

PRAYER POINT:

  1. Every demonic deposit in my body as a result of my carelessness, be flushed out by fire, in the name of Jesus.
  2. Mercy of God cancel every conscious and unconscious covenant I have made with my body in the name of Jesus.
