Bible reading: Rom. 15:1-2
Memory Verse: “Let each of us please his neighbour for his good, to edify him “Romans 15:2(RSV).
Vijay was a Jet Pilot. In a combat mission his fighter plane was destroyed by a missile. He however ejected himself and parachuted safely. He was acclaimed and appreciated by many.
After five years he was sitting with his wife in a restaurant, a man from another table came to him and said “You’re Captain Vijay! You flew Jet fighters. You were shot down!” “How in the world did you know that?” asked Vijay. “I packed your parachute before you went air-borne” the man smiled and replied. Vijay gasped in surprise; and thought if the parachute hadn’t worked, he wouldn’t be alive today. Vijay couldn’t sleep that night. He was thinking about the man he saw earlier in the day. He wondered how many times he might have seen him but didn’t greet him because he was a fighter pilot and that person was just a safety worker.
So, friends, who is packing your parachute? Everyone has someone who provides what they need to make it through the day and through life. We need many kinds of parachutes when our plane is shot down – we need physical parachute, mental parachute, emotional parachute, and spiritual parachute. We call on all these supports before reaching safety.
Sometimes in the daily challenges that life gives us, we miss what is really important. We often fail to say ‘hello’, ‘please’, or ‘thank you’; neither do we congratulate someone when wonderful things happen to them. Learn to give a compliment. You wouldn’t know the person who will be of help to you some day or may even save your life. It doesn’t cost much to be nice. Your attitude determines your altitude.
Quote: If A=1, B=2, C=3 … and Z=26. Then, “A+ T + T+ I +T + U + D + E” equals 100%.
Prophetic Word: May you not despise your helper of destiny by your wrong attitude, in Jesus name.
Prayer point:
- I cast out every spirit of pride in me that makes me to despise others in Jesus name.
- Spirit of humility and appreciation, fall upon me in Jesus name.
