Bible Reading: Hebrews 11:1

Memory Verse: The fundamental fact of existence is that this trust in God, this faith, is the firm foundation under everything that makes life worth living. It’s our handle on what we can’t see. Hebrews 11:1 (MSG)

Faith is the confidence in God for what we hope for and the assurance that the lord is working, even though we cannot see it. Faith knows that no matter what the situation is in our lives or someone else’s that the lord is working on it.

Facts About Faith

  1. Faith is the entrance to Salvation. “But without faith it is impossible to [walk with God and] please Him, for whoever comes [near] to God must [necessarily] believe that god exists and that He rewards those who [earnestly and diligently] seek Him.”  Hebrews 11:6 (AMP).
  • One reason why it is hard for some people to believe in God is well illustrated by Randy Alcorn who says:  “Our pride insists we must work our way to God. Only the Christian faith presents God’s grace as unconditional”.
  • Faith is the door way to the Gospel. “For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God” Ephesians 2:8.
  • Faith can grow. “So faith comes from hearing, and hearing through the word of Christ.” Romans 10:17
  • Those who work by faith “say it to see it” while those who work by sight  “see it to say it.”
  • Faith gets stronger by feeding and acting more on the word.
  • Faith can be active or inactive.
  • Faith is both a component of the fruit of the Spirit (Galatians 5:22) and a gift of the Spirit (1 Corinthians 12: 7-11)
  • There is what is called the Spirit of faith.  2 Cor. 4:13 (KJV) reads “We having the same spirit of faith, according as it is written, I believed, and therefore have I spoken; we also believe, and therefore speak”
  1. Faith means to believe in the Word of God and walk in the reality.
  1. Faith must be exercised (put to work) in order to see the result.
  1. You must learn to act by faith. The timing may never be perfect.
  1. Faith is a risk. It is riskier not to take faith-risk.
  1. Without faith, it is impossible to please God. Hebrews 11:6 says, “And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him.”
  1. There is what is called faith promptings. It means acting by faith even when all logistics aren’t perfect.
  1. “Faith is the antidote of fear. Meet your fears with faith” — Max Lucado.

17. There is what is called No faith (Mark 4:40, Matthew 13:58), little faith (Mat. 6: 25-32) and Great faith (Matthew 8: 5 – 13; 15: 21 -28).

Quote:  Faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God – Romans 10:17 (NKJV)
