FELLOWSHIP WITH THE BRETHREN

FELLOWSHIP WITH THE BRETHREN

DWOJ Daily Words of Jesus Devotional Post April

Wed May 3, 2017

Bible reading: Acts 4: 21-23.

Memory Verse: We should not stop gathering together with other believers, as some of you are doing. Instead, we must continue to encourage each other even more as we see the day of the Lord coming. Hebrews 10:25 (GWT)

In Agricultural Science, we learnt that some crops stay in the Nursery where special attention and care is given to them before they are transferred to the field.

Like the tender plants in the nursery, as “new born babes” in Christ, we need to take time to grow and be well cultured before we can exert a measure of independence in the faith. Many jump this process and corrupt the newly planted seed of Christ sown in them on the day of Salvation. This leads to backsliding.

It was when Michael Smith’s older Christian friends moved away to college, that he soon began to struggle with feelings of loneliness and alienation. Consequently, after graduating from High school, he went into alcohol and drugs.

A tree cannot make a forest. A stick does not make a broom. A match stick never alone make a match box. Beloved, you need the grace of God and the grace of God upon the brethren in the household of faith to grow spiritually. The scripture admonishes us in Hebrews 10:25 (NLT) “And let us not neglect our meeting together, as some people do, but encourage one another, especially now that the day of his return is drawing near.”

Do you have a Church or fellowship you attend in school or on campus on Sundays? How often do you attend mid-week services? Do you participate in the house fellowship/ cell unit put in place? Apart from the spiritual growth the Church/ fellowship offers, we all need a shoulder to rest on when life blows an ugly wind. You must consciously build your support system by being an active member in your fellowship.

The education of a particular brother could have been terminated abruptly if not for the timely intervention of his fellowship members when he lost his Parents in a ghastly motor accident. The Church remains God’s tool of support and hope.

Quote: If you must travel far, build your team! Iron sharpens iron

Prophetic Word: May the Lord deliver you from “Island mentality”, in Jesus name.

Prayer Focus

1. I reject the spirit of loneliness, in Jesus name.

2. Garment of shame, rejection and frustration, catch fire, in the name of Jesus.

3. By the Blood of Jesus, I cancel every foul smell around me, in Jesus name.

4. I receive the spirit of love, acceptability and friendship, in Jesus name.

5. I receive wisdom to manage destiny relationships, in Jesus name.
