A certain lady who happened to be a staff of a bank committed suicide citing, ‘hard economy’ as her reason. She dropped a letter that read, “Nothing is working in my life. My figures are low. My brain is clogged up. The economy is getting harder. My decisions are wrong. My mind is messed up. The future doesn’t seem bright at all. See extreme hardship. I can’t bear this pain any more. I am sorry, mum. I am sorry, dad. I am sorry (names of siblings). Dear Lord, have mercy on me.”
How Do You Fight Suicidal Thoughts?
1. Be genuinely born again: Who is at epicentre of your life? Who are you living for? If truly it is Jesus Christ, then you will be most afraid to take your own life because you know on Judgement day, you are accountable to Him.
2. Be destiny conscious: You cannot be living for a higher purpose and circumstances pull you down to the point of depression talk less of suicide. Remind yourself that God have given you an assignment He has committed to no other person, and irrespective of your circumstances, you are accountable. Have you discovered your purpose?
3. Put your hope in Christ: Only those that know their God shall do exploits. Your spouse, friend, pastor, sibling, and government can disappoint you. Only God cannot disappoint. If you put your confidence in your work, what happens when there is a sales drop or there’s a sudden downsizing and you’re laid off?
4. Visit a therapist: There is nothing bad in visiting a mental health professional. It is an added advantage if the professional is a born again child of God. Science also has its part to play. Don’t die in silence.
5. Bind and cast out the spirit of suicide: There could be a foul spirit sponsoring suicide using everyday challenges common to man as a facade. Obtain personal and collective deliverance from such spirit. Don’t be surprised that suicide could have a foundational spirit attached to it. Members of a particular family may exhibit such traits in different disguise.
6. Stay in a happy environment: …. Singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord, giving thanks always for all things to God the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ (Ephesians 5:19-21). A broken spirit the Bible says who can mend. Play a gospel song that lifts up your spirit at home, in the car, in your bedroom, etc. Fill your heart with gratitude to God. Stop looking at the one dot at the centre of your foolscap white paper; start appreciating the entire white paper.
7. Cast Down Imaginations: Convert the Word of God to scriptural bullets. 2 Corinthians 10:5-6, Philippians 4:6-7, Isaiah 41:10 etc, are some of the scriptures that can be used to frustrate the spirit called suicide.

Prophetic Decree: I silence the voice of suicide banging on your soul by the power in the Blood of Jesus.
Prayer Focus
1. Blood of Jesus, laminate my heart, in Jesus name.
2. Power of the Highest, illuminate my heart, in Jesus name.
3. I bind and cast out the spirit of discouragement, depression, disappointment, and suicide, in Jesus name.
4. I exchange the spirit of heaviness for the spirit of joy, in Jesus name.
5. Spirit of sound mind and joy in the Holy Ghost overshadow my heart, in Jesus name.
