DWOJ Daily Words of Jesus Devotional Post February

Tuesday, 14thFebruary, 2017.

Bible reading: 1 Cor. 9:24-27.

Memory Verse: “Pay careful attention to your own work, for then you will get the satisfaction of a job well done, and you won’t need to compare yourself to anyone else” Galatians 6:4(NLT).

I was jogging this morning and I noticed a person about half a kilometre ahead. I could tell he was running a little slower than me. I thought, “Good, I shall try to catch up”. I had about a kilometre before I turned off to my route. So, I started running faster. After few minutes, I was only about 100 meters behind him, so I increased my pace and pushed myself more. You would have thought I was running in the last leg of an Olympic competition. I was determined to catch him.

Finally, I did. I caught up and even passed him. On the inside, I felt satisfied. I felt so good. “I beat him at last”. Surprisingly, and of course, the man didn’t even know we were racing.

After I ran ahead of him breathing heavily and exhausted, I realized I had been so focused on competing against someone who was just on his own pace while I had missed my own route. I had gone nearly six hundred meters pass my street and I had to turn back disappointed. I needed to rest a bit before continuing. I had lost valuable time and energy. It was a foolish race!

Moral lesson: Stay glued on your path to destiny.

Quote: There Is No Competition In Destiny.

Prophetic Word: Receive Divine grace to run your own race to the end, in Jesus name.

Prayer Point:

  1. I will not run foolishly in the race of life, in Jesus name.
  2. Holy Spirit, strengthen my heart to focus on my own race, in the name of Jesus.
