 HOW MANY KIND OF GIFTS ARE THERE?

There are various kinds of gifts of the Holy Spirit. 1 Cor. 12:8-10 list some of them as the gifts of the word of wisdom, word of knowledge, faith, healing, miracles, prophecy, discernment, tongues and interpretation of tongues. This list consists of nine gifts. But other Bible passages list some more such as 1 Cor. 12:28, Eph.4:11-16 and Rom. 12:6-8.

We are not just to desire them; we are to covet them (1 Cor. 12:31). This is the only covetousness that has Divine blessing. Do not be satisfied with just one or two gifts.

HOW ARE THEY GIVEN?

Gifts are not given at random. Every man gets what suits him (1 Cor. 7:7). The

administrator does not need the gift of preaching even though it is God who will finally decide what gifts to give and to whom.

WHAT SHOULD BE DONE WITH THE GIFTS?

We are to use any gift given to us (1 Tim. 4:14). Some people hide their gifts because they consider them inferior to those of other people. This can be very dangerous as the parable of talents show. Not only are we to use the gifts, we are also to improve on them (2 Tim. 1:6).

The gifts need constant usage to be advantageous in the Kingdom of God. Have you any gifts? Have you been using them? Are they lost and you want to regain them? Or you want more? Why not talk to the Holy Spirit about it.

 CLASSIFICATION OF GIFTS OF THE SPIRIT : There are 3 broad classification of the gifts of the Spirit as mentioned in 1Cor.12:8-10.

1. Revelational gift :     Word of wisdom, Word of knowledge, and discernment of spirit
2. Inspirational/ Vocal gift:       Gift of diverse tongues, Interpretation of Tongues & Prophesy.
3. Power Gift:         Gift of Healing, Working of Miracles and Faith.

ACTION WORD:       MY GIFT IS FOR THE PROFIT OF THE CHURCH OF GOD.

PRAYER POINT:

1. I shall not be jealous of another’s gift in Jesus name.
2. Any veil covering my spiritual eyes from seeing the deposit of God in my life, catch fire, in name of Jesus.
