Scripture Reading:  Psalms 103 & 136

Memory verse for the week: Psalm 103: 1-2

1 Bless the LORD, O my soul: and all that is within me, bless his holy name.

2 Bless the LORD, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits:

The story is told of a child of God who woke up in the morning of a beautiful day to go pass out waste in the latrine. Unlike every other day, his excreta refused to come out from his anus causing him great pain and discomfort. He cried to God in this state and God told him: “Son, have you ever thanked me for the ease of passage of your excreta through your anus?” He immediately repented of his sin of omission and the pain subsided.

Hum… how often do we take lightly the goodness of God upon our life? Our familiarity with the mercies of God shouldn’t be taken for granted.

Beloved, God’s goodness isn’t a right but a divine privilege. Consider some of this goodness of God which we take lightly: The miracle of sleeping and waking up without using sleeping pill, the unseen battles of the night fought by our heavenly father who neither slumber nor sleep (Psalm 121:4 ), protection from kidnappers & evil men on your journey to school every day, your ability to lift your hands and other part of your body every day, the proper functioning of all your internal organs – no kidney or heart failure, the blessings of God upon your parents that they may meet your needs.

Perhaps this message is meeting you in a hospital bed; you can still thank this wonderful God for the gift of life. That may be all God is waiting to hear for Him to move in your direction. I command you whole in Jesus name.

Happy New Year!

ACTION WORD:                          COUNT YOUR BLESSINGS AND NAME THEM ONE BY ONE…

PRAYER POINT:

1) O Lord my father, I repent of all my sins of taking your goodness and mercies for granted in the name of Jesus.

2) In this New Year O Lord, I refuse to take your goodness for granted, please give me a heart of gratitude in the name of Jesus.
