Bible Reading: Matthew 2: 11-15
Memory Verse: Then, being divinely warned in a dream that they should not return to Herod, they departed for their own country another way. Matthew 2:12 (NKJV)
One of the functions of the Holy Spirit is to avert imminent danger. The Holy Spirit travels into the future to spy the hidden works of darkness and give us intelligence on how to avert imminent danger. But, how many of us takes His counsel seriously? For others, they have become too used to the words of the Lord.
Many years ago, it was told that a great man of God of blessed memory had a warning from the Lord to a particular Christian denomination. He received the spiritual intelligence of how the devil intends to divide the Church, and received structures this particular denomination must put in place to avert this.
Perhaps they took this intelligence for granted, and today, that denomination has two general overseers with pending cases in the court for the children of the bond woman to decide on. Our white linen is now being washed in the full public glare. No thanks to instructions ignored.
Friends, how many times have you ignored pertinent instructions from the throne of Grace concerning your destiny. Samson was well forewarned: No razor must touch his hair. Amongst several Nazarene consecration rites, that was foremost (Judges 13:1-5). Lust and untamed appetite for women overwhelmed him throwing his destiny into the trash bin; just like the jaw bone he had earlier thrown away when he defeated God’s enemies.
Destruction was looming against the life of the Son of God even as a new born. It was a warning from the throne of mercy that averted it. In a dream at night, a warning came unto the wise men not to go back to Herod after they had paid homage to the new born child. Again, Joseph was warned to take baby Jesus to Egypt. Despite the anointing of the Holy One on baby Jesus, at this time of his life, only a prophetic warning could save Him.
Imagine if Joseph had bragged about the God’s providence to save baby Jesus from Herod and despised the warning. Spiritual pride! In short, the King of our salvation was preserved to fulfil his destiny because of warning received and obeyed. Oh the needless pain we bear when we refuse to yield to warning from the Spirit of God.
N.B: Sometimes the warning that will avert great danger comes as a loss of your peace or uneasiness in your spirit. Now the waters of your spirit is being stirred! Stay long in God’s presence praying in the Holy Ghost unto you sense the peace of God again. Learn to discern. Train your spirit to capture divine sayings in signs and symbols.

Prophetic Decree: Receive a heart that trembles at the warning from the Lord, in Jesus name.
Prayer Focus
1. Today, I repent from paying lip attention to the instructions of the Almighty, in Jesus name.
2. Spirit of spiritual carelessness, depart from me today, in Jesus name.
3. O Lord, open my eyes and my ears to warnings that will preserve my destiny, in Jesus name.
4. Altar of self-destruction erected against my destiny, be pulled down, in Jesus name.
5. I receive grace to be sensitive to the warnings of the Spirit of God, in Jesus name.
