Scripture Reading: Joshua 1:3-8.
Memory verse for the week: Mat 18:21-22
21 Then Peter came to Him and said, “Lord, how often shall my brother sin against me, and I forgive him? Up to seven times?”
22 Jesus said to him, “I do not say to you, up to seven times, but up to seventy times seven. (NKJV)
A friend of mine told me of a story of his Uncle, whom he went to visit. This friend was privileged to enter into his Uncle’s inner chambers where he kept lots of laurels acquired in his life time within and outside the country. I went suddenly speechless when I got to know that he isn’t born again. “What manner of success is this”, I said to myself. This is a true definition of bad success. All he has acquired will burn to ashes on the judgment day. Vanity upon vanity! 1 Corinthians 3:11-14 says:
11 For other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ.
12 Now if any man build upon this foundation gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, stubble;
13 Every man’s work shall be made manifest: for the day shall declare it, because it shall be revealed by fire; and the fire shall try every man’s work of what sort it is.
14 If any man’s work abide which he hath built thereupon, he shall receive a reward.
Ayo has always passed his exams. Little did anyone know that he had always either cheated or bribed his way throughout his academic year. Nemesis caught up with him recently when he presented his certificate in an oral interview but he couldn’t defend the least of questions posed to him. This is another example of bad success.
Good success upholds righteousness and forsakes iniquity. It can only be found in Jesus Christ. He is the author and the finisher of our faith. There is a user of this devotional, I see God upgrade your brain, giving you a sharper understanding and quick memory. Only stand in Him and for Him. Acts 17:28.
ACTION WORD: YOU CAN ONLY DO IT RIGHT IN GOD.
PRAYER POINT:
- I reject every appetite for sin in the name of Jesus.
- Holy Spirit, grant me good success in all that I do in Jesus name. Amen.
