Bible Reading: Genesis 32: 22-32

Memory Verse: And He said, “Your name shall no longer be called Jacob, but Israel; for you have struggled with God and with men, and have prevailed.” Gen 32:28(NKJV)

It is prayer that converts promises to performance. It is prayer that converts prophesy into manifestation. It is the connection with Oil of grace upon God’s anointed that makes life run without stress. Every Word of God via the Bible or through God’s anointed servant places a demand of responsibilities on the receiver. You must work it out! You must work out your salvation in any area of your need with fear and trembling.

God had chosen Jacob from His mother’s womb. God said in His Word, “Jacob I love, Esau I hate” (Romans 9:13). The hand of the Almighty was strong upon Jacob but this honourable man seemed to be perishing like a beast (Psalm 49:20). Strange things were happening in his life. He knew that the convenant of the God of Abraham was upon him but prosperity seemed to be eluding. Then a day came when he said, “Enough is enough”.  At Peniel, he shut himself away from all family members and all distractions. This is called Solitary Refinement or “Alone with God”. There, he cried to God in a battle with an angel. His name was changed and he entered into his inheritance. Desperate prayers delivers answers to long time promises.
