Bible Reading: Psalm 147:3; Isaiah 61:1–3

Memory VerseHe heals the broken hearted and binds up their wounds

Psalm 147:3

The story is told of a black dog who had been rescued and well taken care of for over five years, but never allowed a single touch. Despite the dog’s loyalty and obedience, there was always a distance—an invisible wall built from past pain. The dog had once suffered severe skin disease and neglect, and although his body healed, his mind held on to the trauma. Love felt dangerous to him. Everything had been tried but the dog would only accept kindness from a distance. His owner longed for closeness, yet the dog could not trust enough to receive it.

But help finally came. A behavioural expert revealed that the dog’s resistance was not stubbornness but fear rooted in past wounds. Healing began slowly through observation, safe examples, and gradual exposure. The turning point came when the dog realised that touch did not equal pain. Over time, what once triggered fear became a place of comfort. Today, the same dog who once avoided all contact has become deeply affectionate and inseparable from the one who loved him.

Perhaps this story is similar to what is going on with you today. You try to love, you try to walk in love, you try to obey God, but deep down, you keep God and others at a distance because of past trauma. Healing does not happen instantly, but through patience, safe environments, and gently rebuilding trust again. God does not force healing; but He can walk you through it step by step, proving His love until fear loses its grip.

Lessons to Take Away

1. Trauma can remain even after the visible wounds are gone.

2. Love is not always rejected; it is sometimes feared.

3. Healing often requires time, patience, and the right guidance.

4. God restores trust gradually, not forcefully.

5. What once caused fear can become a source of comfort through healing.

Quote:  God doesn’t rush your healing. He patiently teaches your heart that it is safe to love again.

Prophetic Decree: I command every wound from your past is losing its hold over your life.

Prayer Focus:

1. Lord, heal every hidden wound in my heart, in Jesus name.

2. Lord, help me to trust again where I have been hurt, in Jesus name.

3. I remove every fear that stops me from receiving love, in Jesus name.

4. Lord, surround me with the right people and guidance for my healing journey, in Jesus name.

5. O Lord, please teach me to rest in Your love without fear, in Jesus name.

6. Say: I am stepping into healing, freedom, and restored trust. Fear will no longer control my responses, in Jesus name. I am made whole, in Jesus name.
