HOW DO I MEASURE MY PASSION FOR GOD? (1)

Memory VerseBlessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be satisfied. Matthew 5:6 (ESV)

Passion can be felt, but it is also revealed. You may not always be able to explain it, but over time, passion for God shows itself in real, measurable ways. These are not rules to impress God; they are signs of a heart that truly loves Him. Signs that a man is passionate about God include:

1. Hunger for God’s Presence: When your passion is alive, you want more of God. Prayer becomes refuge, not duty. Worship becomes delight, not noise. Psalm 63:1 says, “O God, You are my God; early will I seek You; my soul thirsts for You.” A passionate heart doesn’t ask, “Do I have to pray?” It asks, “When can I meet Him again?” James 4:8 says, “Draw near to God and He will draw near to you.”

2. Delight in God’s Word: The Bible becomes more than a routine. It becomes nourishment. You read not just to tick a box, but to hear God, to be corrected, comforted, and guided. Matthew 4:4 says, “Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God. When passion fades, the Bible gathers dust. When passion burns, Scripture becomes daily bread. Psalm 119:105 says, “Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.”

3. Sensitivity to Sin: As your love for God deepens, your conscience becomes sharper. Things that once felt normal begin to feel heavy. There’s less excuse-making and more genuine repentance. Psalm 139:23–24 says, “Search me, O God… and see if there is any wicked way in me.”A passionate heart doesn’t defend sin, rather it turns away from it. “If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us.” (1 John 1:9).

4. Obedience Over Convenience: True passion shows up in obedience. Not just when it’s easy, but when it costs something. A heart in love with God says, “Lord, whatever You say,” even when it’s uncomfortable or unpopular. Your emotions may rise and fall, but passion chooses obedience. “If you love Me, keep My commandments.” (John 14:15).

Quote:  If you don’t feel strong desires for the manifestation of the glory of God, it is not because you have drunk deeply and are satisfied. It is because you have nibbled so long at the table of the world. Your soul is stuffed with small things, and there is no room for the great – John Piper.

Prophetic Decree: Today, receive an insatiable hunger for the presence of God, in Jesus name.

Prayer Focus

1. Undying passion for more of God, come upon my heart, in Jesus name.

4. Holy Ghost, please make me sensitive to sin, in Jesus name.

WHY PEOPLE TRY TO JUSTIFY THEIR ACTIONS

There are days you shouldn't talk. Silence could be golden, but not all the time. That aside, some people are just too defensive. They can never accept they are wrong or sit down to chat through a difficult conversation. In Genesis 3, when confronted, Adam justified himself by blaming Eve...

DON’T ALWAYS DEFEND YOURSELF

Growth demands honesty. And honesty is impossible when you are always in survival mode, always explaining, always protecting your image. When every correction feels like rejection, the heart closes instead of learning. But Scripture reminds us that the Lord disciplines those He loves...
