Memory Verse: And Elijah answered and said to the captain of fifty, If I be a man of God, then let fire come down from heaven, and consume thee and thy fifty. And there came down fire from heaven, and consumed him and his fifty. 2 Kings 1:10

In October 1972, some missionary friends came visiting Archbishop Benson Idahosa from England in his home. Then, he had no air-condition or electric driven fan. Usually they fanned themselves with newspapers which was strange to these English missionaries from Liverpool.

Accordingly, they left their windows wide open when they went to bed at night. At about 3 am, seven armed robbers paid a visit to his home. Snapping out of sleep, the missionaries demanded who they were and what they wanted. “We are men of the underworld and we are here to relieve you of your money and other valuables; any resistance will be met with death,” they said. They informed the men that they were visitors and were not the owners of the house asking for permission to contact the owner at the family sleeping quarters. The thieves obliged. “Mrs. Idahosa, there are seven men outside who said they are thieves and want our money and luggage. Can you wake up the Pastor?” His wife woke Bishop up and they all began to speak in tongues. The thieves heard the commotion of tongues inside and shouted “Shut Up!” And they all shut up. His wife said “Honey, let us pray”. He replied, “I had prayed before they came.”  He got up, snatched his Bible and marched towards the door. “Who are you? he shouted” “We are men of the night” they responded. He replied “I am a man of the day. Are you ready for me? They said “Yes”. Then he said, “Wait for me and in few seconds, if you are all not flat on your stomachs, certified dead, then I am not a man of God”. Uncertain of what he meant, they hesitated for a while then they jumped into the nearby bushes and melted away in the darkness! No time to negotiate with the devil. Exercise your authority as a believer.

Prayer Focus

1. I command all the physical and spiritual activities of Night raiders in my life to come to nought, in Jesus name.

2. Authority that cannot be gainsay, fall upon my tongue, in Jesus name.

3. Father, make my tongue a flaming sword of fire, in Jesus name.

4. I put on the whole armour of God that I may be able to withstand the evil day, in the name of Jesus.

5. Power of God as of Old, come upon my life, in the name of Jesus.
