Bible Reading: 1 Chronicles 7:14
Memory Verse: For this reason I am telling you, whatever things you ask for in prayer [in accordance with God’s will], believe [with confident trust] that you have received them, and they will be given to you. Mark 11:24 (AMP)
It is one thing to pray, and it another thing to pray effectively. Prayer is a two-way communication process between God and man – Man speaking to God, and God speaking back to Man. Until this feedback mechanism is in place, prayer hasn’t been said. Prayer is earthly permission for heavenly interference. Let’s consider some laws required for answered prayers:
1. Law of God’s will: 1 John 5:14 (AMP) says, “This is the [remarkable degree of] confidence which we [as believers are entitled to] have before Him: that if we ask anything according to His will, [that is, consistent with His plan and purpose] He hears us.” The only prayer that comes to God has a sweet smelling incense is that which is consistent to His plans and purposes. This is one reason why we pray in tongues so that we will not pray amiss. How then do we discover the will of God for our lives, families, or nation? Simple: Study your Bible. The will of God is contained in the Scriptures.
2. Law of process: Should God answer the prayer of a woman waiting for the fruit of the womb today, she will most likely wait through a gestation period of nine months. Perhaps one of the reasons why it seems your prayer letter to God hasn’t been answered is because it is in the production pipeline. ‘Whoever believes will not be in haste.’ Isaiah 28:16 (ESV)
3. Law of measure/persistence: Prayer can be likened to the act of cooking food. The time required to prepare indomie is not the same for rice. The time needed to prepare rice is not the same for beans. The time needed for beans is not the same for a three-course meal. Similarly, it seems to me that the bigger the miracle, sometimes, the longer the waiting time needed to receive the answer. From another angle, with a little force, the weed in the garden of a life may be uprooted by a single stroke of prayer. But this is not the same in all cases. There are deeply rooted trees and stumps needing loads of ‘caterpillar type of prayer’ to uproot in the garden (life) of certain people. Never compare yourself with another. Keep praying until your joy is full (Luke 18:1-6).
Quote: True prayer is measured by weight, not by length. A single groan before God may have more fullness of prayer in it than a fine oration of great length – Charles Spurgeon
Prophetic Decree: Henceforth, your prayer labour shall receive immediate attention in Jesus name.
Prayer Focus
1. My Father, I am sorry for not prioritising speaking to You above any man.
2. I receive grace to know and pray only the will of God, in Jesus name.
3. I receive grace to wait upon the Lord unwavering and without compromise, until my prayers are answered, in Jesus name.
4. I receive grace for persistence on the altar of prayer in Jesus name.
5. The devil shall not weary my prayer altar. My strength shall not douse. I move from glory to glory, in Jesus name.
