The Christian that will walk with God must practice the discipline of hearing. God’s word can never fail but when a Christian does not prioritize the place of hearing from God on a matter, he or she will record unprecedented loses.
I heard of a business man that has never lost money in any of his business deals. How did he do that? He takes any business proposal he receives to the Lord in prayer as he enquires if he should invest. Sometimes, it looks as if the business lacks prospects but, whenever the Lord says he should invest, he invests and He has never failed. At other times, the business looks like a great offer but if the Lord says don’t invest in it, he never does. This is the experience of an investor who has learnt how to hear from the Lord. And you, what have you heard God say about that exam, your life, that interview or your National Youth service?
It is not enough to say I hear from the Lord, it is also important that we listen to critical voices around us. God could speak through anyone and anybody. After all, God once spoke through an ass (Num. 22:22-35). The most important thing to note is that such words are consistent with the only infallible Word, which is the Bible (this is one reason why you need to be a Bible addict).
Moreover, another voice you need to listen to is the voice of your body. What is your body saying to you? You woke up one day and you have this unbelievable cramp in your stomach. Having rebuked it by faith, it’s also important you ask a doctor around you what that feeling may imply. Go do a medical check-up so that you are not ignorant of what your body is telling you.
