Bible reading: Mark 1: 9-17, 35.

Memory Verse: “Very early in the morning, while it was still dark, Jesus got up, left the house and went off to a solitary place, where he prayed.” Mark 1:35.

 4)           Jesus was a strategic team builder. (Mark 1:17)

In the Gospel according to Matthew chapter 4, the first two men that Jesus called were fishermen who also were brothers.  There names are Peter and Andrew.  The next two recruits were friends of Peter and Andrew who were also fishermen. They were brothers whose names were James and John.

This action of Christ in recruiting the first disciples is a lesson on how important it is for a leader to begin with people who share common traits and values. These four men did not have to explain themselves to one another; neither did they have to learn each other’s backgrounds. Anytime a leader is attempting to build a team it is essential to have a core group of people who understand each other.

 5)            Jesus practiced daily prayer (Mark 1:35 )

Jesus prayed every day. Prayer is a powerful and helpful tool for anyone who desires to be a healthy leader. Once settled on the altar of prayer, the heart of men is open to follow much easily. Read 2 Chronicles 7:14, & Isaiah 40:29-31.

Key Point:  The secret of great leaders is found in their daily routine especially in their secret place.

Prayer Point

  1. Spirit of godly leadership, come upon my life, in the name of Jesus.
  2. Wisdom for effective leadership, my life is available, in the name of Jesus.
