Bible Reading: Ephesians 5: 11-16 (MSG)

Memory VerseSo watch your step. Use your head. Make the most of every chance you get. These are desperate times! Ephesians 5:15-16 (MSG)

The Pearl Island (or The Pearl-Qatar) is a man-made island located off the coast of Doha, Qatar. It spans nearly four million square meters and was designed as a luxury residential and commercial development; complete with marinas, high-end shops, villas, apartments, and tourist attractions. This wasn’t an accidental development. It was a deliberate, calculated effort to create something remarkable on what was once just a sea. But what does this teach us? Intentionality!

Intentionality means to live or build with purpose, and not by chance. The Pearl Island is a physical representation of what happens when people plan, design, and execute with a clear goal in mind. Other lessons include:

1. Intentional Design Like the Nehemiah’s Wall: Just as the architects of The Pearl Island drew up blueprints, arranged funding, and created a timeline, Nehemiah did the same when rebuilding Jerusalem’s wall. In Nehemiah 2:5-8, Nehemiah requested letters, timber, and support from the king. He didn’t just say, “Let’s hope this wall rebuilds itself.” He took intentional steps.

Lesson: In personal growth or nation building, vision alone isn’t enough. It must be followed by strategic planning and bold action.

2. Massive Investment Like the Widow’s Mite: The Pearl Island cost billions of dollars to build. Qatar was intentional in investing in a legacy project that would put them on the global tourism and investment map. In Mark 12:41-44, Jesus commended the widow who gave all she had, not the wealthy who gave out of abundance.

Lesson: The power of intentional giving and sacrifice is not in the size, but in the commitment and faith behind it. Building anything worthwhile whether a family, business, or nation requires investment of time, money, and heart.

QuoteIntentional living is the art of making our own choices before others’ choices make us.

Prophetic Decree: Receive grace to live intentionally daily, in Jesus name.

Prayer Focus

1. Today, I bring my heart into the will of God for my life, in Jesus name.

2. I receive great grace to intentionally submit to God’s perfect plan for my life, in Jesus name.

3. I receive grace to dwell intentionally in God’s preferred choices for my life, in Jesus name.

4. I will not follow another man’s blueprints for my life, in the name of Jesus.

5. I receive wisdom to do the will of Him that sent me while it is day, in Jesus name.

SEEING BEYOND THE SURFACE

Many pay attention to what is happening rather than what is going on. One of the greatest challenges in life and destiny is the temptation to focus only on what is happening i.e. the immediate, visible, noisy events around us while failing to discern what is really going on...
