Bible Reading:  3 John 1: 9-11

Memory Verse:  I wrote something to the church; but Diotrephes, who loves to put himself first, does not accept what we say and refuses to recognize my authority3 John 1:9 (AMP)

Imagine a Christian Season film that has lasted for 9 years. That’s what God is doing through Daddy Evangelist Mike Bamiloye through the Season film, Abejoye.

While reviewing one of its many episodes, Edwin Nkem Mary shared a post: You may be wondering what is really wrong with Bamidele. What we’re seeing is something often called Main Character Syndrome. And truthfully, many people – believers and non-believers alike struggle with it sometimes without realizing it.

What is Main Character Syndrome? It is a mindset where someone unconsciously believes everything must revolve around them, their relevance, their validation, and their voice.

In social psychology, it reflects excessive self-focus inflated, self-importance, and difficulty functioning as part of a team or community.

I almost brushed past this but “main character syndrome” kept ringing strongly in my spirit.

Signs of this mindset as portrayed in Season 9, Episode 4 of Abejoye through Bamidele include: Henry said on the phone,

“Chief Omolagba called. His family needs our prayers”. Bamidele responded, “They want us or they want you to pray for them.” Henry clarified, “Chief Omolagba said they need our prayers.” Bamidele then said, “They called you to come and pray. Why are you calling me? He has my number. If he really needs me to pray, what stopped him from calling me directly…” What was really happening here? Bamidele was not concerned about the family’s need. He was more concerned about his recognition. The focus shifted from ministry to ego, from service to status.

Ask yourself: In what ways am I suffering from Main Character Syndrome?

Quote:  Shallow waters are noisy; deep waters are silent.

Prophetic Decree: Receive a heart that sees himself the way God sees him, in Jesus name.

Prayer Focus

1. I break away from every high mindedness, in Jesus name.

2. Meekness of Christ, overshadow my heart, in Jesus name.

3. I receive the humility of Christ in my heart, in Jesus name.

4. I cast down every demonic high mindedness, in Jesus name.

5. I bring into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ, in Jesus name.

BIBLE IN ONE YEAR:  2 Samuel 24, 1 Chronicles 21-22, Psalm 30
