Bible Reading: 1 Samuel 18: 7-9

Memory VerseWhoever wants to be great among you must be your servant. Mark 10:43 (KJV)

Main character syndrome is an inflated sense of self-importance and lack of empathy. This attitude centres on self. It is a situation where one sees himself as the champion and everyone else as less important or subject to himself or to his instructions.

Real life situational examples:

1. A church worker gets offended because a testimony did not mention their contribution.

2. Someone refuses to support a project simply because they are not leading it.

3. A believer feels threatened when God uses someone else powerfully.

4. A friend turns cold because attention shifted to another person’s breakthrough.

In all these, the issue is not service, it is self-centeredness.

Scriptural examples:

I. Diotrephes loved to be first and rejected others (3 John 1: 9-10).

II. The disciples argued over who was the greatest (Luke 22: 24-26).

III. King Saul became insecure when people praised David more (1 Samuel 18: 7-9).

IV. Even Peter struggled when Jesus corrected him publicly (Matthew 16:22-23).

Jesus addressed this mindset clearly: Whoever wants to be great among you must be your servant (Mark 10:43).

The Kingdom of God does not run on who gets noticed but on who humbles themselves. You do not always have to be the voice. Sometimes you are the vessel, sometimes the support, sometimes the unseen prayer behind the scenes. Ask yourselves: Have I ever wanted to be at the centre of discussion/attraction instead of pointing people to Christ?

Quote:  Deep waters flow in majestic silence while empty barrels makes the most noise.

Prophetic Decree: Let every subtle pride hiding in-between layers of your Christian service and walk be exposed and disgraced, in Jesus name.

Prayer Focus

Father, search my heart and uproot every seed of pride, insecurity, and self-importance in me. Deliver me from the need to always be seen, praised, or acknowledged. Teach me true humility like Christ who served even unto death. Help me to rejoice when others are lifted and to serve faithfully whether I am noticed or not. I surrender my ego, my title, and my validation to You. Make me a vessel of love, unity, and true Kingdom service, in Jesus’ name. Amen.
