Scripture Reading: 1 Cor. 15:33
Memory verse of the week: Psalm 103: 1-2
1 Bless the LORD, O my soul: and all that is within me, bless his holy name.
2 Bless the LORD, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits:
I remember years ago as a teenager preparing for outstanding success in my educational pursuit, I walked with a group of carefully selected friends who loved God and had similar vision of a great and promising future.
I’m yet to recover from the effect their lives rubbed on mine ever since then. You are who you walk with. Show me your friends and I can predict the destination your life may likely end. In life, like minds attracts; unlike minds repel!
Jesus Christ carefully chose his disciples, though some were crude and unlearned but one thing was sure, they were all simple in heart; unlike the Pharisees, and wouldn’t influence him negatively.
Two things will basically form your character in life. The books you read and your association! Please don’t handle these two things with levity.
Daniel associated with the 3 Hebrew boys. They all did exploits in the foreign land of Babylon. Joseph had a friend in the king’s baker who later introduced him to Pharaoh. Joseph eventually became the Prime minister of Egypt; a position no one has ever held before then. David ‘clicked” with Jonathan who shielded him from Saul, his father who wanted to kill him 1Sam 20. Dinah, the only daughter of Jacob was unfortunate to meet the daughters of the land only for one day. Her destiny was since shut down! Genesis 34:1-2.
Do the people you associate with invite you to try cigarette, alcohol, drugs, and attend disco parties when you’re meant to be burning the midnight oil? Flee from such associations today. Carefully choose your friends.
ACTION WORD: YOU ARE WHO YOU WALK WITH.
PRAYER POINT:
- I break the grip of bad friends upon my life in Jesus name.
- Holy Spirit separate me from any bad friend the devil may be bringing my way to destroy my destiny, in Jesus name.
