There was this couple who had a little misunderstanding and instead of settling their differences, they went to bed furious with each other. At midnight, the wife had an asthmatic attack. All efforts to wake her husband who was still very angry fell on deaf ears. He grabbed his pillow and went out of the bedroom to sleep in the sitting room without looking at his wife. Uncontrolled anger is a demon, beloved.

In the morning, the husband woke up still annoyed. He left for work without saying hello to his wife. When he came back from work in the evening, he noticed the house was still unkempt just as he left it. He also noticed his wife was still in bed sleeping. Checking her pulse, she was already dead. Calling 911 didn’t help. Question: What killed her? Anger and Emotional immaturity. Are you aware that many are in the prison because of uncontrolled anger?

Are you aware many threw their wedding ring away because of a moment of anger? Are you aware some persons tore their wedding certificates because of a moment of anger? Are you aware many broke some valuables such as their television, phones, laptop, etc, because of a moment of anger? Robert Green Ingersoll was right, “Anger is a wind which blows out the lamp of the mind.”

Lessons

1. Couples should endeavour to pray always in the morning and especially at night before going to bed. By so doing, you MUST bury all grievances knowing that the prayer of an angry person will be unacceptable to God. An elder said he will deliberately sleep crossing both sides of the bed when there is a tension between him and his wife. By the time she comes to bed and taps him, then it is time for forgiveness and reconciliation before night prayers.

2. No matter what, couples, please be matured enough to call each other at least once during the day. Worse case, send a sms and expect a reply. Get it straight, marriage is a union of two forgivers. Be ready to forgive always.

Prayer Focus

1. Thank you gracious God for another day You have given me to restitute my past and press into a glorious future.

2. Holy Spirit, please teach me self-control.

3. Fire of God, burn off anger in me, in Jesus name.

4. Hammer of God, crush anger in me, in Jesus name.

5. I receive fresh baptism of the Holy Spirit today, in Jesus name.
