Tuesday, 5th July, 2016.
Scriptural reading: Isaiah 43:19.
Memory verse for the week: Psalm 103: 1-2
1 Bless the LORD, O my soul: and all that is within me, bless his holy name.
2 Bless the LORD, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits:
“This year 2016, I’ll work harder on my grades, pray harder, won’t sleep too much, and distant myself from Wale, that friend of mine that teaches me to steal in school”. These are some of Ebuka’s New Year resolution. What is a New Year Resolution? It is what a person has decided to do or not to do again, usually at the beginning of a New Year; having carefully thought of a need for change.
The burning desire for positive change particularly in a teenager like Ebuka must have prompted him to make these New Year resolutions. I congratulate many like Ebuka. But, why do many teenagers fall short of such resolutions just few weeks or months into the New Year?
The truth is that it isn’t easy to change a habit; to do away from what one has always been used to. We’ve spent the last two days making some decisions but it will take a lot of God’s grace and great self–discipline to accomplish all of these things.
Self –discipline? O yes! To be disciplined is to stick to what one has planned to do whether it is convenient or not. Remember, life will not give you what you deserve but what you desire and strongly pursue. Make up your mind to do as you have planned even as God helps you.
May all our dreams and New Year resolutions come to pass this year 2016, in Jesus name.
ACTION WORD: DISCIPLINE ALONE CONVERTS DREAMS TO REALITY.
PRAYER POINT:
- Vision killers, my life is not available in Year 2016, in the name of Jesus.
Holy Spirit of God, strengthen my heart to pursue my New Year resolutions in Jesus name.
