Bible Reading: 2 Timothy 3:1-5, 1 Timothy 6:17-19

Memory Verse:  Forget about the wrong things people do to you. Don’t try to get even. Love your neighbor as yourself. I am the LORD. Leviticus 19:18 (ERV)

One thing you cannot take away from the Saints of old is their selflessness. Contrarily, this is where many Christians in this generation are getting it wrong. It was St. Francis of Assisi who said: “Lord, make me an instrument of thy peace. Where there is hatred, let me sow love, Where there is injury, pardon; Where there is doubt, faith. Where there is despair, hope; Where there is darkness, light; And where there is sadness, joy.

O Divine Master, grant that I may not so much seek to be consoled as to console, to be understood as to understand, to be loved, as to love. For it is in giving that we receive, it is in pardoning that we are pardoned, and it is in dying that we are born to eternal life.” To be selfless is to be devoted to others’ welfare or interests and not one’s own. It means to be unselfish; altruistic, or self-sacrificing. You remember the 117 Salvation Army Youths leaders who willingly died for others to live when the ship of the Empress of Ireland was sinking; having rejected the life jacket that was readily made available to them in 1914?

I heard of a Christian who gave the tithe of a slice of bread given to each of them unto the younger Christians when they were all detained for their Christian faith. A tithe of a slice of bread? Wonderful! That’s selflessness!! Your millions or billions of dollars is of little essence if the kingdom of God and humanity does not benefit from it. You are blessed that you may be a blessing to others. Why can’t you build a skill acquisition centre, a hospital, a school, etc, in your neighborhood? Receive the Dorcas anointing, in Jesus name. We are only remembered for our contribution to God and to humanity. Nothing more. Nothing less. True love is selfless. It is prepared to sacrifice.

THE QUIET DESTROYERS (2)

One of the greatest dangers in the life of a believer is not the sins everyone can see, but the ones that hide quietly in the heart. These sins rarely attract attention, yet they slowly drain spiritual strength and weaken a man’s destiny. Hebrews 12:1 says, “Let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles”...

THE QUIET DESTROYERS (1)

The Quiet Destroyers are otherwise known as Secret Sins That Ruin Destiny. Many destinies have not been destroyed by loud sins, but by quiet ones. The sins nobody sees. The ones people excuse. The ones hidden behind reputation, ministry, intelligence, or success. Yet heaven sees them clearly. The Bible says, “Be sure your sin will find you out” (Numbers 32:23). Secret sins do not remain secret forever. They slowly weaken the soul until a man who once carried promise begins to lose weight in the spirit...

THE DANGER OF SECRET SIN

Bro. Gbile Akanni once shared a sobering story that has stayed in my heart for many years. He spoke about an elderly evangelist whom God used mightily in the past. In those days there was no television, only radio. When this man of God preached, people would gather around their radios. Sometimes he would say, “Place your hand on the radio.”...
