Bible Reading: James 1: 12-16

Memory Verse: But each one is tempted when he is dragged away, enticed and baited [to commit sin] by his own [worldly] desire (lust, passion). James 1:14 (AMP)

1. Temptation is the desire to do something wrong or unwise. Temptation is an enticement towards sin. Temptation lures a person away from a fruitful and obedient walk with the Lord.

2. What bait is to fish is what temptation is to man. You need to make your choice. Temptation is not something in itself. You sin when you fall into temptation.

3. It is not wrong to be tempted, but it is wrong to fall into temptation.

4. God does not tempt, but God tests (James 1:13)

5. Every man is tempted when enticed by his own lust (sinful desires) James 1:14.

6. Temptation  feeds  on  our  lust;  lust  gives  birth  to  sin,  and  sin  leads  to  death (James 1:15).

7. No mortal man (pastor, priest, parent, student, government officials, teenagers) is above temptation.

8. If Jesus while in human flesh was tempted, you will also be tempted (Matthew 4:1-10).

9. If Jesus while in human flesh overcame all temptations, you can also overcome (Matthew 4:1-10).

10. One highly revered person, Man of God, or minister fell into sin does not mean you will also fall into such similar sin should you walk diligently with God.

11. There is always a way out of every temptation (1 Cor. 10:13)

12. You fall into temptation not ALWAYS because you are weak. You fall into temptation because you have not taken enough responsibility (Heb. 12:4)

13. Take responsibility against temptation. However, human strength will fail you again and again. You also need to rely on the help of the Holy Spirit.

14. Like unto Jesus, you will need spiritual energy and energizer gotten from the combination of prayers, fastings, and the Word of God to overcome the many temptations of the devil daily.

15. Grace is most readily available when you fall into temptation. Come boldly to the throne of grace (Heb. 4:16). Reject self pity, self condemnation, and guilt. With the help of the Holy Spirit, you can always rewrite a new chapter, rewrite your negative history.

16. The area of your temptation today when overcome could become the area of your greatest strength tomorrow (2 Cor. 1:4).

17. God has promised a crown of life to everyone that endures temptation (James 1:12).

Prophetic Decree: No temptation shall overcome you, in Jesus name.

Prayer Focus

1. Thank you Father for the power to overcome all temptations.

2. Powers calling for my downfall, be wasted, in Jesus name.

3. I receive fresh fire and power over all temptations, in Jesus name.

4. I receive power to overcome all easily besetting sins in my life, in Jesus name.

5. Power to overcome temptation, fall upon me, in Jesus name.
