Bible Reading: 2 Samuel 9: 1-7

Memory Verse: David asked, “Is there anyone still left of the house of Saul to whom I can show kindness for Jonathan’s sake?” 2 Samuel 9:1 (NIV)

There are many people who are ingrates. No wonder such people always fall from grace except they repent. We have been saved to save others. Similarly, you have been helped that you may also help others. Friend, don’t be too quick to forget where the Lord brought you from. Many of us never knew we could travel this far. Now that God has blessed you, what do you give back – to your parents, family, community, and nation as a whole? Look back from where you are coming, beloved and be a blessing to many lives. There was just one thing Dale Schroeder in our yesterday’s devotional asked for in return for his philanthropy from people he will never meet on this side of time – “Pay it forward”.

You can’t pay it back, but you can remember him by treating others the same. Song Minister Chioma Jesus was from a very humble background. She struggled to feed her little baby, living from hand to mouth. She was ostracized by her own mother until mercy spoke for her. Today, she gives out bags of rice to others in similar shoes. Pay it forward! Kanu Nwankwo is an ex – international Nigerian football star. He was diagnosed of a heart disease. God healed him. Today, he owns a Heart foundation named after him. He paid it forward! Dr. Olawale Sulaiman is a Nigerian born citizen but based in the USA as a neurosurgeon doctor.

He told his employers to slash his salary in order to administer medical surgery to other Nigerians because he is a product of a college scholarship having come from an impoverished family. Pay it forward. Friends, at the end of time you will get to know that all that matters is the people you touch positively in cash and in kind, and not what you own as asset. Pay it forward, brethren.

Quote: Those who think back, give back

Prophetic Decree: Receive a heart of gratitude, in Jesus name.

Prayer Focus

1. Sing the hymn, “O God our help in ages past” on page 104.

2. I break the cycle of pain in my life, in Jesus name.

3. I receive a willing and a doing heart to replicate the numerous kind gestures I have received, in Jesus name.

4. I repent of my selfishness, in Jesus name.

5. O Lord, please raise more men who will care for the needs of mankind in all humility, in Jesus name.

Hymnal: O GOD, OUR HELP IN AGES PAST

1. O God, our help in ages past,

Our hope for years to come,

Our shelter from the stormy blast,

And our eternal home.

2. Within the shadow of thy throne,

Still may we dwell secure.

Sufficient is thine arm alone,

And our defense is sure.

3. Before the hills in order stood,

Or earth received her frame,

From everlasting thou art God,

To endless years the same.

4. O God, our help in ages past,

Our hope for years to come,

Be thou our guide while life shall last

And our eternal home.

BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: Matthew 4; Luke 4-5; John 1:15-51
