Bible Reading:  Luke 11: 5 – 8

Memory VerseBut he who endures to the end shall be saved. Matthew 24:13 (NKJV)

It was Roy T. Bennett who said, “Your hardest times often lead to the greatest moments of your life. Keep going. Tough situations build strong people in the end”. It was a dream come true for a Nigerian new mum as she finally secured a job in the United Kingdom after almost 400 unsuccessful applications and 25 failed interviews. She had begun applying for jobs three months after she welcomed a baby. There is no better definition for the word: Persistence. To be persistent means to continue to do something even though it is difficult; even when other people or forces want you to stop.

It takes more than willingness to be persistent until one sees the desired results. You need a persistent spirit from the Holy Spirit. Only a man with a lion heart can have a lion share. Some of the opportunities that will make your glory shout for joy will not come cheap. You will need to be persistent before you can handle them. No matter how many times you have failed, try again. You are not a failure until you refuse to try again. “For though a righteous man may fall seven times, he still gets up; but the wicked stumble in bad times.” Proverbs 24:16 (BSB).

Those who give up so soon may never achieve anything monumental with their lives. It is good to have a fighting spirit, but it is better to have a winning spirit. Not all fighters win. Only a persistent fighter eventually wins. It will take persistence to pursue your vision though you’ve been knocked down many times. Our righteousness in God does not exempt us from the challenges of life. Our right standing with God does not always mean the journey to the top will be without challenges. Only a man with a persistent spirit wears the crown.

Quote:  Nothing in this world can take the place of persistence. Talent will not; nothing is more common than unsuccessful men with talent. Genius will not; unrewarded genius is almost a proverb. Education will not; the world is full of educated derelicts. Persistence and determination alone are powerful. The slogan Press On! has solved and always will solve the problems of the human race – Calvin Coolidge.

Prophetic Decree: I cast out from your life the spirit discouragement and weariness, in Jesus name.

Prayer Focus

1. Thank you Father because You are my strength and my exceeding great reward.

2. I receive a resilient spirit today, in Jesus name.

3. I receive a persistent spirit today, in Jesus name.

4. I reject the spirit of failure, in Jesus name.

5. I will not stop. I will not go weary. I will get to the top, in Jesus mighty name.
