Bible Reading: 1 Thessalonians 4: 3-8, Isaiah 52:11
Memory Verse: That each of you should know how to possess his own vessel in sanctification and honor. 1 Thessalonians 4:4 (NKJV)
While we need the grace of God to be sanctified, as individuals, we also have our own roles to play. 2 Corinthians 2:11 (HCSB) says, “I have done this so that we may not be taken advantage of by Satan. For we are not ignorant of his schemes.” Such roles include:
- Personal Discipline: Living by certain dos and don’ts can help safeguard your destiny. Why must you talk/counsel the opposite sex alone in a room? Brethren, don’t throw caution to the wind. You are hanging out with friends that smoke. In no time, you are likely going to become a chain smoker. You are who you walk with. Like someone said, “Never walk gallantly in areas where angels walk cautiously”. No matter how anointed or pious you think you are, you’re still a mortal man susceptible to the dictates of the flesh. Be warned.
- Stay close to your spouse: Have you wondered why some couples especially those in ministry always try to go everywhere together? It is for this same reason. A lecturer travelled outside his state for an assignment. His host suggested a “slay queen” for the night. This is the temptation many who travel a lot often pass through. Keep it close with your spouse. Give no room for the devil.
- Learn from the testimonies of people who fell into sexual sins: Someone said prior to his fall, he was always attracted to the breast of a woman. He knew he had a problem but he was not wise in seeking early solution. That’s the spirit of lust trying to find expression. Mere telling his Pastor or his discipler who will pray with him and put him on some deliverance prayers could have secured his testimony.
- Burn the bridge: You are listening to all manner of sensual songs and watching all manner of sexually explicit videos, and you think you will be sexually sane. One day, you will surely experiment what you have been hearing and watching.
- Make a covenant with your eyes: As long as you’re in this human body, sexual purity is a continuous fight. You must be resolute. Job 31:1(AMP) says, “I have made a covenant (agreement) with my eyes; How then could I gaze [lustfully] at a virgin?”
6. Commanded consecration: “Others may, but you cannot”. Beloved, it is possible that God demands certain things from you as a token of your personal consecration unto Him. Give it up unto Him.
Quote: Don’t trust yourself. Accept the possibility of a fall hence, guard your loins.
Prophetic Decree: You will not make a mistake that will damage your testimony, in Jesus name.
Prayer Focus
1. My body, obey the voice of the living God, in the name of Jesus.
2. Shekinah glory of the living God, overshadow my body, in Jesus name.
3. I receive power to put my body under the subjection of the Holy Spirit, in Jesus name.
4. O Lord, crush sin locked up in my members, in Jesus name.
5. Holy Spirit of God, possess my spirit, soul, and body, in Jesus name.
