Bible Reading: Romans 8:34, 1 Timothy 2: 1-2

Memory Verse: And I sought for a man among them, that should make up the hedge, and stand in the gap before me for the land… Ezekiel 22:30 (KJV)

Prayer is a two-way communication channel – Man talking to God, and God talking back to Man. For any prayer to be effective, your request must be according to the will of God, heart-felt, fervent, and it must come from a heart that is free from unforgiveness (1 John 5:14, James 5:16, Mat 6: 7-15).

There are different types of prayers such as prayer of worship, prayer of thanksgiving, prayer of repentance, prayer of supplication, prayer of petition, prayer of warfare, prayer of faith, etc. But, the most selfless type of prayer is the prayer of intercession.

The Prayer of Intercession

Intercession is one of the highest expressions of love. It is choosing to carry someone else’s burden into God’s presence. While petition seeks God’s help for ourselves, intercession seeks God’s mercy, blessing, protection, and intervention for others. An intercessor stands between a need and God’s power. He becomes a bridge through prayer. When a mother prays for her children, she is interceding. When believers pray for their nation, they are interceding. When a church prays for revival, it is interceding. When you pray for the salvation of your friends, you’re interceding. Intercession is God’s invitation for us to partner with Him in changing lives.

The Heart of an Intercessor

An intercessor reflects the heart of Jesus. Even now, Jesus continues to intercede for believers. The Bible says: “He ever liveth to make intercession for them” (Hebrews 7:25).

Imagine that. The Son of God Himself is praying for His people. Every true intercessor simply joins in the ministry that Christ is already carrying out. Intercession is not merely speaking words; it is sharing God’s burden for people. You begin to see people differently. Instead of criticising them, you pray for them. Instead of condemning them, you ask God to help them. Instead of becoming discouraged about a situation, you bring it before Heaven.

Quote: Often God spares us because there are some who make intercession for us – John Calvin

Prophetic Decree: Let the fire of a selfless prayer addict fall upon you, in Jesus name.

Prayer Focus

Father, thank You for the privilege of prayer. Teach me to stand in the gap for others. Give me a heart that reflects Your love and compassion. Strengthen me to pray faithfully for my family, church, community, and nation. Let my prayers become channels through which Your power, mercy, and grace flow into the lives of others, in Jesus name. Amen.

Divine Direction Vs. Self

Many believers desire divine direction, but few realise the price that often accompanies it. God's guidance becomes clear when our own ambitions, preferences, and opinions are surrendered to Him.

One of the greatest gifts God gives His children is divine direction. Life is full of decisions, crossroads, and opportunities. Sometimes the difference between success and struggle is simply knowing which way to go.
