Bible reading:    1 John 2:15-17

Memory Verse:   But He gives more grace. Therefore He says: “God resists the proud, But gives grace to the humble.   James 4:6(NKJV)

Let’s consider the last category of sin the devil uses against God’s own children. The pride of life can be defined as those things that lead to arrogance, ostentation, pride in self, presumption, and boasting.

The pride of life refers to those things you do in order to make a point about how important you are amongst your friends and in your neighborhood.  It is the accumulation of things not just because you need them, but to engage in a show of self-worth and superiority. This has become the norm today even among believers. They boast about their names, degrees and background. People show off their money, possessions, power, dress, equipment, furniture, cars, etc.

All we have are privileges from God. Why intimidate your friends in extravagant show of affluence in your school? Don’t ever be proud over any of the ephemeral things of this world.  All we have are privileges. You are blessed to be a blessing and not to intimidate with such a blessing. Only the humble shall inherit the earth (Mat. 5:5 NLT).

Quote: A proud man digs a pit for himself with his own hands.

Prophetic Word: I crush every spirit of pride in your heart, in Jesus name.

Prayer Focus:

  1. Father Lord, I repent of every way I have allowed the pride of life in my heart, in Jesus name.
  2. Lord Jesus, baptize me with the spirit of humility, in the name of Jesus.
  3. I pull down every spirit of arrogance and ostentatious living, in Jesus name.
  4. Holy Spirit, work in me a meek and humble heart, like that of Christ, in Jesus name.
  5. Every manifestation of pride in my life, die, in Jesus name.
