Bible Reading: Ecclesiastes 3:7, Mark 1:35, Matthew 6:6
Memory Verse: My soul, wait in silence for God alone, For my hope is from Him. Psalm 62:5 (NASB)
One of the greatest prayers you can pray is to know God more intimately daily. His depth is unphantomable, His length is unreachable, and His breadth is unsearchable. You can’t know God enough. One way to keep knowing God daily is through your Quiet time. It is amazing that many of the simple things of this kingdom are the weightier things which are often neglected.
Quiet time refers to a regular period of individual spiritual reflection and connection with God, often involving prayer, Bible study, meditation, or devotional readings. It’s a time to intentionally set aside distractions and focus on God.
Quiet time is the period of time you deliberately set aside daily to commune alone with God. It is a time you set aside as an individual child of God to speak with your heavenly Father, not because you have any request or immediate need but to just be there talking with your Father in Heaven.
Purpose of Quiet time: Quiet time is about deepening one’s relationship with God and seeking His guidance. It’s a way to personally connect with Him daily, hear from Him, and respond in prayer.
Activities: Common activities during your Quiet time include:
I. Bible reading and study: Exploring Scripture and reflecting on its meaning.
II. Prayer: Communicating with God, expressing gratitude, seeking guidance, and confessing sins.
III. Meditation and contemplation: Quietly pondering God’s character and teachings.
IV. Devotional readings: Reading short, inspiring passages or texts.
Frequency: Quiet time is often practiced daily, but the exact duration and schedule can vary depending on the move of God’s Spirit per time, individual preferences, and circumstances.
Duration of Quiet time: Depending on your hunger for God. It could range from few meaningful minutes to several hours.
Place of Quiet time: Anywhere quiet will do. Preferably in the early hours of the morning or hallowed hours during the day/night. However, the quietness of your heart is what is more important.
Be warned:
I. Be wary of the ‘myth of no time’. Know for sure that you will always have time for what you consider important.
II. There is a difference between your Quiet time, your family prayer altar, or your Church’s early morning prayer.
III. Sacred instructions (tailored only for you) that will change your destiny usually come from the place of one’s Quiet time.
IV. Should you miss your Quiet time for any reason, feel free to reschedule again during the course of the day.
Quote: Before having your breakfast, be sure you’ve had your Quiet time (Job 23:12).
Prophetic Decree: Today, you shall receive a personal revelation of the gravity of Quiet time, in Jesus name.
