Bible Reading: Luke 7:35

Memory Verse: Do you see a man diligent in his business? He shall stand before kings; he shall not stand before mean men. Proverbs 22:29

Many of us grew up with a particular picture of hard work. We were taught that if effort is not visible, then work is not happening. If there is no sweat, no rushing around, no obvious exhaustion, then surely there is no productivity. But God often works differently.

Consider the lion. Frankie Ikemefune observed: “Did you know that a lion sleeps for about 16 to 20 hours a day? More than two-thirds of the entire day, the lion spends it snoring.” At first glance, that sounds like laziness. How can the king of the jungle spend so much time sleeping? Yet the lion’s greatness is not revealed in its resting but in what it does when the moment of action arrives.

A lion studies. A lion watches. A lion waits. As Frankie noted: “It can observe a prey for hours before it pounces. But when it pounces, it pounces with unmatched ruthlessness.” What appears to be inactivity is often preparation. What appears to be stillness is often strategy. What appears to be rest is often the conservation of energy for a critical assignment. This is an important lesson for believers because God does not measure diligence the way people do.

One of the greatest mistakes people make is allowing outsiders to define productivity for them.
Frankie wisely said: “Don’t allow people who don’t understand the ramifications and specifics of your assignments define what hard work means for you.” Every God-given assignment has its own demands. A farmer works differently from a surgeon. A teacher works differently from an engineer. A mother raising children works differently from a corporate executive. A pastor preparing a life-changing sermon may spend hours alone in prayer, meditation, and study. To an observer, it may look like nothing is happening. Yet heaven sees intense labour taking place.

N.B: This is not to encourage laziness or oversleeping, but to stop unnecessary competition amongst ourselves.

Food for thought: What appears to be inactivity may actually be preparation. What matters is not looking busy but fulfilling God’s purpose faithfully.

Quote: Hardwork is good, smart work is better, grace work is best.

Prophetic Decree: May your output in life be a reflection of grace and wisdom, in Jesus name.

Prayer Focus

Father, give me the wisdom to understand the demands of my divine assignment. Deliver me from the pressure of comparison and the need for human validation. Teach me to labour according to Your purpose for my life. Help me to know when to wait, when to prepare, and when to act with boldness. May my efforts produce lasting fruit and bring glory to Your name, in Jesus name. Amen.
