Bible reading: Matt. 16:24-25.
Memory Verse: “There is no greater love than to lay down one’s life for one’s friends “John 15:13 (NLT).
A train has been travelling to and from a remote station in Asia just to bring a student to school every day. The train company has been praised for its commitment to customer service after it emerged, that it arrives every morning and evening at the remote station to ensure the teenager makes it to class.
Every school day for the last three years, the train has arrived at 7:04am to carry its single passenger and returned again at 5:08pm to bring her home. The railway company had initially planned to close the station three years ago because of the lack of demand for her services. However, after it realized the school girl relied on it every day, it decided to maintain the service until she finishes school. The railway group has been praised for the thoughtful step and for prioritizing customer needs before company profits. The girl is due to finish her studies soon and the company plans to close up her operations few weeks after then.
This story grips my heart. What manner of selflessness! No company is in operation without the purpose of making profits. I wish you and I will emulate this. Many a times, it’s all about ourselves. The “I” syndrome! – Me, myself and I. We must learn to do things for the collective good of all and sometimes for just one person as we’ve read!
Quote: If you must leave your footprint in the sand of time, you must practice self-denial.
Prophetic Word: Every root of selfishness is cast out of your life, in Jesus name.
Prayer Point
- I rebuke every spirit of selfishness in my life, in Jesus name.
- Jesus, make me like you; let the joy of others be my joy, in the name of Jesus.
