Bible Reading: John 16:13, 2 Kings 6: 15–17
Memory Verse: That ye may be filled with the knowledge of His will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding. Colossians 1:9 (NIV)
Spiritual intelligence is the God-given capacity to perceive, discern, and respond accurately to spiritual realities by the leading of the Holy Spirit. It is not mere knowledge of Scripture, nor emotional zeal, but the ability to interpret life through God’s perspective and act in alignment with His will.
1. Spiritual Intelligence Begins with Spiritual Perception: 1 Corinthians 2:14 says, “But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God… because they are spiritually discerned.” Spiritual intelligence enables a believer to see beyond appearances. Two people may face the same situation, but only the spiritually intelligent discern what God is doing within it. Elisha’s servant saw an enemy army; Elisha saw angelic reinforcement (2 Kings 6:15–17). Friends, what you perceive determines how you respond. Without spiritual intelligence, you may react in fear where God expects faith.
2. Spiritual Intelligence Is Built Through Fellowship with the Holy Spirit: John 16:13 says, “Howbeit when He, the Spirit of truth, is come, He will guide you into all truth.” Spiritual intelligence grows by sustained intimacy with the Holy Spirit in prayer, meditation on the Word, and obedience. Daniel did not survive Babylon by brilliance alone; he survived by spiritual understanding. Daniel 1:17 says, “Daniel had understanding in all visions and dreams.” Friends, prayer is not noise; it is training your spiritual senses.
3. Spiritual Intelligence Discerns Times and Seasons: 1 Chronicles 12:32 says, “And of the children of Issachar, which were men that had understanding of the times, to know what Israel ought to do.” Spiritual intelligence is not just knowing what God has said, but when and how to act. Abraham received the promise long before Isaac manifested, but wisdom taught him to wait for God’s timing. Ecclesiastes 3:1 says, “To everything there is a season…” Friends, acting too early or too late can be as dangerous as not acting at all.
Quote: Acting too early or too late can be as dangerous as not acting at all. Get spiritual intelligence!
