Memory Verse: From the Issacharites, who understood the times and knew what Israel should do: 200 chiefs with all their relatives under their command. 1 Chronicles 12:32 (CSB)
If you are destined to be a Doctor, Lawyer, or Engineer, then, University degree is a must. However, you don’t need to think less of yourself if you don’t have such inclinations. Some jobs that require technical skills such as mechanics, plumbers, etc, are well paid per hour than some professional jobs in most developed countries. The excerpt from yesterday’s devotional continues: Oil and gas companies operating in a particular nation have to keep applying for expatriate quotas to bring in thousands of foreign workers.
It is because there are over 250,000 oil and gas jobs in the same country, but its inhabitants keep going to universities to read library science, linguistics, sociology, philosophy and political science. Courses that have no relevance to anywhere and anything in this particular nation. Then these same people complain that foreigners are coming to take their jobs. What job can you do at Chevron with your PhD in political science? That is why Total and Elf are bringing non-graduates with technical skills from France to do jobs that you could have done if you had just spent six months learning a skill.
A private individual built a $19.5 billion refinery and could not find 11,000 indigent technicians to run it, because they all have degrees that are incompatible. He had to import 11,000 technicians from India who are earning in one hour more than what an average person makes in a month, because you wasted four years studying irrelevant courses. Before you spend four years studying a course at a university, do a Cost Benefit Analysis.
Spend half the cost and time to learn nursing, SEO optimising, web designing, coding, programming, machine learning, cloud computing, blockchain, and AI skills. That is a more successful outcome against money spent. Don’t study a course that lost relevance in the eighties and then blame the government. Blame yourself. AI, robots and automation are rendering even valuable degrees like accounting, HR management and creative writing close to obsolete, and you are still applying as one out of fifty thousand graduates chasing non-existing jobs. Fortune 500 companies in the US are dropping degree requirements in place of skills. Please study a course that is up to tomorrow, not one that belongs in a museum.
N.B: It was the musical skill of David that brought him before king Saul. However, David would have died in oblivion if Samuel hadn’t anointed him. You need the anointing of God for visibility. Don’t neglect the place of the prophetic (1 Samuel 16).
Quote: Your skills/talents will usually reward you much more than your degree. Study a course that will horn your skills.
Prophetic Decree: May the mercy of God lead you to your Rehoboth, in Jesus name.
