Scripture Reading: Eccl 11:9, 12:1.

Lust is an emotion or feeling of negative intense desire in the body. The teenage year happens to be the time when teenagers want to explore as a result of the changes happening in their bodies. As your body matures and you come of age, there is a tendency to be attracted to the opposite sex. This is where many make mistakes and fall into sin. It is at this stage of life that many throw caution to the wind as they begin to pursue after the feelings in their body. They begin to seek the opposite sex in order to satisfy this sexual desire.

Paul in 2Tim.2:22 told Timothy to flee (run away) from youthful lusts and that is the word for you. You are to run away from anything that will not make you do that which pleases God or that will make you sin against your body. This could mean you have to change your circle of friends that lure you into sin.

In order for a teenager to escape the lust of this stage he/she should purpose develop an intimate relationship with the Holy Spirit. Secondly, be fervent in the service of God i.e. get busy doing something for God. Thirdly, surround yourself with godly friends; friends that will add to your life and not those that will subtract from your life. Fourthly, every teenager is supposed to develop at least a skill from his/her natural talent. You could learn how to play the piano, or blow the trumpet or even hand skills like tailoring, carpentry, hairdressing etc. An idle hand is the devil’s workshop.

ACTION WORD: FLEE TEENAGE LUST.

PRAYER POINT:

  1. Powers from my foundation, hunting the juice of my destiny, die by fire, in the name of Jesus.
  2. I will not end up my life at the altar of Jezebel, in the name of Jesus.
