THE CONSEQUENCES OF UNCONTROLLED ANGER

Bible Reading:  Numbers 20: 1-13

Memory Verse:  Be not quick in your spirit to become angry, for anger lodges in the heart of fools. Ecclesiastes 7:9 (KJV)

It was Benjamin Franklin who said, “Whatever is begun in anger, ends in shame”. A man killed his wife and her lover after allegedly catching them in the act of adultery. During interrogation, he confessed that he hacked the victims to death with a machete and abandoned both corpses by the road.

A short argument happened between two women living adjacent to each other in the same house. The two of them reported the matter to their husbands respectively. In annoyance, the two husbands confronted each other and a hot argument ensued which resulted in a fight. They both landed in a hospital.

A moment of uncontrolled anger between church practitioners, neighbours, office colleagues, etc, has led to very disastrous consequences.

The other time, a colleague provoked another. In wrath, he threatened to deal with the other colleague though it was an empty threat. The devil decided to step in. “The Provoker” was killed in strange circumstances due to some shady deals he hitherto made. Pronto, the police arrested “the provoked” colleague and charged him of murder because of the threat he earlier issued.

Really, without the help of the Holy Spirit, no one can live above the work of the flesh such as anger. However, you must also hold yourself accountable.

1. First, make up your mind that you want to be free from anger.

2. Check your family line for the root of anger, and deal with it decisively.

3. Understand what triggers anger in you and walk away from it. It can be little things such as not wanting to see a disorganized room, always wanting to find your things where you placed them, etc. Sir/ma, everybody cannot be like you. You must learn to tolerate others.

4. Obtain foundational deliverance from the spirit of anger.

5. Learn to stay quiet when annoyed. The spirit of anger thrives amidst toxic words.

6. Keep evaluating yourself as you make daily progress.

7. Learn from the consequences of uncontrolled anger from today’s testimonies and let it serve as a deterrent.

QuoteDo not say, “I cannot help having a bad temper.” Friend, you must help it. Pray to God to help you overcome it at once, for either you must kill it, or it will kill you. You cannot carry a bad temper into heaven – Charles Spurgeon.

Prophetic Decree:  Let every spirit of anger in your life die, in Jesus mighty name.

Prayer Focus

1. Lord, I repent of every way I have been a victim of uncontrolled anger, in Jesus name.

2. I curse the root of uncontrolled anger in my life, in Jesus name.

3. By the mercies of God, let there be a restoration of all the blessings I have lost through uncontrolled anger, in Jesus name.

4. I receive grace to control my anger, in Jesus name.

5. O Lord, never again shall I be a victim of uncontrolled anger, in Jesus name.
