THE DIFFERENT MANIFESTATIONS OF PRIDE (1)

THE DIFFERENT MANIFESTATIONS OF PRIDE (1)

Memory Verse: But he gives us more grace. That is why Scripture says: “God opposes the proud but shows favor to the humble.” James 4:6

Pride is a demonic spirit that operates like a chameleon. It changes colour and manifests in different forms. In Habakkuk 2 verse 4, the Bible says, “Behold his soul which is lifted up is not upright in him: but the just shall live by his faith”. The truth here is that faith and pride don’t work together. Pride manifests in different ways namely:

  1. Ego: This was what made the son of the prophet not to call on Prophet Elisha for help

 (2 kings 4:1).

  •  Shame: This was what made Naaman refuse to dip in the river after Prophet Elisha gave him the Word of the Lord (2 kings 5:1-14).
  •  Dignity: This was what made Michal, the wife of David and daughter of Saul to think it was a wrong thing for David, a king  to have danced unashamedly in the Lord’s presence (2 Samuel 6:12-23).
  • Overconfidence: When Samson “shook himself” as at other times, it was overconfidence that made him assume that the power of God was still in him (Judges 16:18-22).

Quote: No other thing does God resist save a proud man.

Prophetic Word: Receive the spiritual surgery that will evacuate pride from your heart, in Jesus name.

Prayer Focus:

  1. Holy Spirit, exhume pride from my heart, in Jesus name.
  2. I gather every work of the flesh together in my heart, and I consume it all with the fire of the Holy Ghost, in Jesus name.
  3. Holy Spirit, my Senior helper, help me to humble myself, in Jesus name.
