Bible Reading: Ephesians 6: 2-3

Memory VerseHonor your father and mother, this is the first commandment with a promise, that it may go well with you and that you may have a long life on earth. Ephesians 6: 2-3 (NIV)

The law of honour is the principle upon which the system of God operates and it is the principle of authority. To honour God means, first and foremost, that you recognize Him as the highest authority in heaven and on Earth.

Similarly, to honour God’s vessels on earth means you acknowledge that such vessels are custodians of a particular dimension of God’s grace. Friends, if you need electricity, you wouldn’t connect your cable to a water dam. You will connect your cable to an electric main/source near you.

That’s what honour portends. It bridges that gap between God and you via one of God’s vessels that is already a carrier of the grace/dimension that you need.

Friends, honour to spiritual and parental authority is powerful. Dishonour is perhaps the major reason why people struggle to achieve little; turning the journey of 6 months into 6 years. This is sad but true.

At a season in the life of God’s servant, Apostle Femi Lazarus, he was struggling to breakthrough. He engaged in 3-7 days dry fasting with prayers several times. Then, he went to God in prayers asking why his efforts are not yielding much results. God answered Him succinctly, “You did not discern and honour my servants that have successfully conquered the same type of battles you are presently fighting”. Indeed, God’s own people perish because of lack of knowledge (Hosea 4:6).

Rev. Isaac Omolehin was getting leaner and leaner at a particular point on his life. One of his friends in ministry beckoned on him, “Why are you emaciating in weight?” He told him that he had been fasting for 40 days over a particular problem that has troubled him for so long. His pastor friend decided to lead him to a senior minister in ministry. As soon as he got to this father in faith and told him his problem, he went completely silent for some few minutes.

Then he gave him an instruction without raising a prayer point. He was quite indignated. He asked for prayers but the old man asked, “Over this matter or another?”  As he got back home and carried out the instruction, the problem disappeared! Through honour, he entered into the labour and blessings of a spiritual father. Fathers are systems of spiritual advantages.

Enter into the proceeds of their many years of labour by honour like those two hundred men who had been too exhausted to follow David, yet partook of the spoil of the battle (1 Samuel 30: 21-23).

N.B. The word, ‘father’ is used in its generic form. You remember Timothy drank from the spiritual waters of Lois and Eunice, his grandmother and mother, before he met Paul. The victuals of your destiny may be located in a woman of God. The victual of your destiny may be located in an old man/woman of grace. The victual of your destiny may be located not necessarily with a big bishop, or general overseer, but in anyone who has found grace with God. Prominence may sometimes be misleading. God uses the foolish things too (1 Corinthians 1:27). Only learn to discern by the Spirit of God.

Quote: Like diffusion, anointing/graces flows from a region of higher concentration to a region of lower concentration through a vessel that has found grace with the Lord of all graces.

Prophetic Decree: Let every scale in your spiritual eyes fall off, in Jesus name.

Prayer Focus

1. Holy Spirit, conquer my heart to honour both the old and young, everyday of my life, in Jesus name.

2. Holy Spirit, please give me a humble perception of what I carry, who I am in your presence, and who I need to connect to, in Jesus name.

3. My Father, do a final work of death to self and pride in my heart today, in Jesus name.

4. Holy Spirit, connect me to the carrier of grace needed for my lifting, healing, and miracles, in Jesus name.

5. Holy Spirit, please sharpen my spiritual discernment, in Jesus name.
