Bible Reading: Revelation 21:27, 2 Corinthians 13:5

Memory Verse:  And nothing that defiles or profanes or is unwashed will ever enter it, nor anyone who practices abominations [detestable, morally repugnant things] and lying, but only those [will be admitted] whose names have been written in the Lamb’s Book of Life. Revelation 21:27 (AMP)

Pastor Amos Joko Fenwa once wrote: “On one of my international travels, I was going through the security protocols necessary for access and the continuance of my journey in Houston Airport, USA, boarding to Newark. As I approached the scanner, the security in charge asked if I had anything on me after dropping my bags. I replied, ‘No’. He asked again and I responded in the affirmative -slightly irritated by the repeated question. However, as I stepped into position for the scanner to scan me, I was taken aback by the beeping of the machine indicating the presence of something on me. I was so sure nothing was on me.

Then, the security personnel proceeded to check my body. A coin, a long-forgotten item from one of my travels, was lying in my pocket. I apologised for the oversight on my part and continued my journey. Here is what I learned: Sin, like that coin, is capable of hiding in one’s heart in such a way that you will not know what you are capable of doing – harm, intended and unintended – if we do not ask God to reveal (scan) us with the light from His word. We might continue working for God in ministry, yet our heart is not in total alignment with His. Many times, the sin hides for so long, and when not revealed and repented of, it is exposed to the light and tarnishes the image of the believer, regardless of the title. Therefore, it is important to continually ask God to search your heart daily and help you conform to His image (Psalm 139:23).

Furthermore, just like the coin was long-forgotten in his pocket, Satan keeps a long record book of our sins, mistakes, errors, and faults. That is why he is called, “The accuser of the brethren”. He is ever searching, looking for the right opportunity to use such legitimate ground to disqualify you from your next level or moving forward. As you begin to do business with God in deeper waters, as your relationship with God grow progressively, especially in line with His ultimate purpose in your life, there are certain ‘forgotten coins’ that may be brought before you. Sometimes, only restitution done under the leading of the Holy Spirit and godly advisors will scale you through else, destiny may become stranded. This is the reason teenagers, young men and women are advised to be careful of the way they live in the days of youth, doing only the will of the Father.

QuoteUntil His light comes, we can’t truly know ourselves – Psalm 119:130
