Bible Reading: Proverbs 4:23, Romans 12:2

Memory Verse:  Be careful how you think; your life is shaped by your thoughts. Proverbs 4:23 (GNT)

The book, “Renew Your Mind” says, ‘How you feel largely depends on your thoughts. Your thoughts are immensely powerful. They determine how you feel, your decisions and your actions. The Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) model is one of the most important models in Psychology. This model states that events lead to thoughts, thoughts lead to feelings, feelings lead to behaviour and behaviour always has a consequence.

It is not the events themselves that determine how you feel and behave. It is your thoughts about these events that trigger the sequence of feelings, behaviours, and consequences. As an example, let’s say you are lying in bed and you hear a loud bang. This is an event. If you then think to yourself ‘it is a burglar’ you probably feel scared. Your personality and past experiences will determine your actions, but let’s say you ‘freeze’.

You feel scared and hide under the blankets – a likely consequence of this is that it will take you a long time to fall asleep and you will feel tired the next day. Let’s take that same scenario, you are lying in bed and you hear a loud bang. Then you think to yourself ‘it’s just the neighbour’s cat’. This could lead to several different feelings but let’s say you feel relieved.

The behaviour that follows will depend on your personality and past experiences with the neighbour’s cat but let’s say you decide to stay in bed and go to sleep. The consequence would be that you have a good night sleep and feel rested the next day. So with this one scenario, you can have two completely different outcomes! The outcome does not depend on the event but on your thoughts about the event. Such is the power of your mind.” No wonder the scripture says, “As a man think so is he”. Again, we see scientific discoveries confirming the scriptures written over 3,400 years ago.

One prayer you must pray as you journey in life is for the Holy Spirit to align your heart to think His own thoughts. Then you will no longer see the mountain confronting you called problems but a challenge whose aftermath is a testimony. Reading the Word of God, Spirit-filled materials, and reading good books are three sure ways you can give the Spirit of God free access into your mind. Flee from watching dirty and pornographic contents on the Internet that malign the efficacy of the Word of God and pollutes your mind.

Quote:  Your life is as beautiful as your mind. Guard it jealously.

Prophetic Decree: May the power in the Blood of Jesus control the entry and exit of your thoughts, in Jesus name.

Prayer Focus

1. Blood of Jesus, laminate my mind, in Jesus name.

2. Holy Spirit, please make my mind a beautiful garden where only your Word thrives, in Jesus name.

3. I bring down every imagination and every high thing that rise against the knowledge of God, in Jesus name.

4. The power of Pharaoh on my mind, break, in Jesus name.

5. Mind demons, I bind and cast you out by the fire of God in Jesus name.
