Bible Reading: Matthew 26:19-21

Memory Verse: The strangers shall fade away, and be afraid out of their close places. Psalm 18:45.

Sometimes, mum would get up quietly while the rest of us were shushing each other to listen to what he had to say, and she would go to the kitchen for peace and quiet. Dad ruled our household with certain moral convictions, but the stranger never felt obligated to honor them. My Dad did not permit the liberal use of alcohol but the stranger encouraged us to try it on a regular basis. He made cigarettes look cool, cigars manly, and pipes distinguished. He talked freely (much too freely!) about sex. His comments were sometimes blatant, sometimes suggestive, and generally embarrassing.

I now know that my early concepts about relationships were influenced strongly by this stranger. Time after time, he opposed the values of my parents, yet he was seldom rebuked and never asked to leave.

More than fifty years have passed since the stranger moved in with our family. He has blended right in and is not nearly as fascinating as he was at first. Still, if you could walk into my parents’ den today, you will find him sitting over in his corner, waiting for someone to listen to him, talk and watch him draw his pictures.

His name? We just call him Television a.k.a TV. With the advent of 24hrs films called season films, so many lives have gone on “spiritual sabbatical leave”. Many a spiritual life are crawling. These lifeless gadgets have paralyzed the results of many students who were hitherto very bright. Watch it! Freedom is not absence of control.

Quote: Though hard, discipline will preserve your future.

Prophetic Decree: Receive the enabling power to rule over your belongings, in Jesus name.

Prayer Focus

  1. I receive the spirit of temperance and self control, in Jesus name.
  2. Holy Spirit, baptize me with the right mindset, in Jesus name.
  3. I receive power to rule over my life by the power of the Holy Spirit, in Jesus name.
  4. Satanic cobweb blocking my eyes from seeing Jesus, catch fire, in Jesus name.
  5. I bring my will under the control of the Holy Spirit, in Jesus name.
