DWOJ Daily Words of Jesus Devotional Post February

Sunday, 26th February, 2017.

Bible Reading: 1 Sam. 13: 5-14.

Memory Verse: “Then the LORD answered me and said: “Write the vision And make it plain on tablets, That he may run who reads it. For the vision is yet for an appointed time; But at the end it will speak, and it will not lie. Though it tarries, wait for it; Because it will surely come, It will not tarry” Habakkuk 2:2-3 (NKJV).

Recently, I have been pondering on why it seems God tarries in bringing His Words to pass and His promises to manifestation. I searched the Scriptures for a similar scenario. I came across our Text today. King Saul waited in great fear for Prophet Samuel who was scheduled to come in 7 days’ time to offer sacrifice to God for the purpose of defeating the Philistines.

After 7 days, Prophet Samuel did not show up, so king Saul offered the sacrificed on his behalf. Just as he had finished, Prophet Samuel came in. Hear what Prophet Samuel said in 1 Sam. 13:13(NIV) said, “You have done a foolish thing, you have not kept the command the LORD your God gave you; if you had, he would have established your kingdom over Israel for all time.”

Obviously, it was a test – a test of delay! You see, anytime God wants to promote us, He gives us a short test. After all, no one gets promoted into another class without a promotional examination. Dearly beloved, what is that thing you’ve been trusting God to do in your life & family having prayed & fasted? Perhaps you’ve heard God speak to you audibly over the matter saying “All is well”. You’ve bind the devil, dismantled all demonic forces in the 2nd heavens yet, the answers aren’t forthcoming. Rest in God, He is meticulously at work.

You see, God’s delays are not denials. God will always come just at the right time. God’s intention was to establish an everlasting throne with Saul but he failed in the test of delay. Be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might (Eph. 6:10). Your case is special. The birth of John the Baptist, Isaac and even Prophet Samuel came quite late, their Parents waited for so long, but they all performed wonders in their time. An everlasting throne awaits you, don’t lose it to impatience.

Quote: God’s delay is not God’s denial.

Prophetic Word: Warring angels of the Lord shall hastily destroy every Prince of the air delaying your answered prayers.

Prayer point

  1. I receive the spirit of patience & perseverance into my life, in the name of Jesus.
  2. Holy Spirit, empower me to hold firm unto God, in the name of Jesus.
